HAPPY BIRTHDAY 大哥 and 二哥!

Actually their birthdays are on the 17th and the 19th of January respectively. So i ingeniusly took the average to wish them on the 18th. =) 真聪明

So on Friday was CCA Orientation Day. Changed after school and drew out Mark IV rifles which i havent touched in a VERY LONG time. Wasnt as heavy as before of course, and i managed to do rotation with it! HAHA

Performed for 7 Sec 1 classes a sequence of 5 drills which included Stupid Arm, Modified Dolphin Arm, Impact Arm, Rotation Arm and Salute(Butt/Marine). Executed the traditional "Project Hentak Kaki" and received some applause from the little kiddies on my lap.

So overall, we ended up with 161 names, though i wouldnt be too happy yet as this may not be reflective of their interest in NCC Air. However, it is indeed a good start as everyone in the unit put in their utmost in what is to be our final major task as NCOs.

CAT HIGH AIR GUYS ALL THE WAY!

A1!

AND A DISTINCTION FOR
ORAL+AURAL COMPONENT TOO. =)

So i have secured a point for my L1R5 already with this crucial crucial A1. It is as crucial as MAN U trouncing Chelsea 3-0. =)

Nervousness obviously set in after 12:50 A.M. The funny thing, is that when Nigel told me i had gotten an A(I was the first person in my class), i lagged for 10 seconds before finding that ONE word. COOL.

To all those who had gotten the same results me but may not be as zai though, good job. =)

Those who didnt and need to drop HCL, although im in no position to say this, but good luck for your other subjects, hopefully it may be a blessing in disguise. JIA YOU!

With the 2008 Chinese 'O' Level Examinations aside, i shall talk about UG talk(Sounds weird repeating the word "talk") performance. Weird atmosphere, super light rifles which im not accustomed to. Only thing is that Wei Kit and Yu Cheng dropping the rifles(So in sync as well) motivated me more not to drop my Triple Jumbo, which i think those at the back cant see because of the dim lights. FUN FUN, another performance done and over with. GOOD JOB to all the performers too!

Ok i shall not be complacent after perusing my A1, i shall maintain focus, after today which taught me that the results are so fragile and go both ways, the wrong way if im unlucky. BUT I CAN DO IT, I WILL DO IT!

TO ALL THE SENIORS(And Sirs as well), GOOD LUCK in getting into your dream tertiary institution! JIA YOU! You guys have done BRILLIANTLY! And with that comes a closure of chapter of another generation of students graduating from Catholic High School. =)

Contrary to popular belief, i would not put a GIGANTIC/HUMONGOUS 'HAPPY NEW YEAR' here. I like to go against cliches.

So with the coming of 2009, is the going of 2008. This post is a reflection of the wonderful year that has past, and probably should have been posted yesterday, but you should know me by now. =)

Year 2008 Academics:

What can i say? Same old same old. HAHA if you guys(or girls) have read my previous posts in October, you will know the results i have been getting.

B AVERAGE.

Term 1 this year was my best term so far since coming into this school. Almost all As except Physics, which i had gotten a B3 in. Peaked.

Following that came a plunge in Term 2 and Term 3. Valleyed.

Term 4 was in sight, and i did my best to salvage the situation in Term 4 by doing last minute revision, and i got a few As, getting my B average. So by now, you can already infer my results for Term 2 and Term 3. Disastrous.

Overall, i wouldnt say this has been a good year in my studies, the surprising thing is, i got $150 for good progress. And i didnt even made any improvement in my studies. WORD.

So here comes 2009, promises i have made to myself, is to be dedicated and focused in constant revision or at least 2 weeks before every Prelim, i will study my darndest. I WILL NOT LET MY PARENTS DOWN, for they are the greatest support i can rely on in times of trouble. =)

THIS WILL BE THE PROMISE

MADE, COME NEXT YEAR WE

WILL SEE WHETHER I HAVE

KEPT MY PROMISE.

NCC: Since the 2nd half of Sec 1, i have set my sights on becoming the CSM of the unit(Yes it is that long ago). I worked hard, i trained up my fitness level, i practiced my drills at home and i was the timer almost everytime.

Then came the turning point, i joked, i crapped and went overboard, thus shattering the image the NCOs had of me.

10th Annual Camp came, and i went to China, not on purpose, but i guess life's like that. =( I begin to lose all hope of getting my dream post.

Came the interview, and the post release. As expected, i wasnt the CSM, and i became

CHS NCC Air PART B UDI 2008-2009.

I hated it, it was the 1 post that i didnt want to get out of the Top 5, i would rather much be a PART C UDI or PART A UDI, actually ASM wasnt really in my mind too.

Heck after so many months, i have come to realise i love the part under my charge. SERIOUSLY, love them though im not gay. This is the post that utilises and unleash my true potential upon reflecting back on what i have done and what i could do for them.

During this period of time, came MKE, 11th Annual Camp, NCC Air Annual Specialist Course 2008, 2 Star Kayaking Course and NCC Air Annual Senior Specialist Course 2008.

Badges pile on, Ranks got bigger, RESPONSIBILITY HEAVIER.

It was not so much the drills, or training up the cadet's physical fitness anymore, but rather to inculcate in them a sense of brotherhood amongst each other, and passion for the CCA. I cant say i have done that to everyone, but i can say im trying, and at the end of the day we will see what has become of them when they themselves take over as NCOs.

PROMISE to myself, is that i will groom them to be the best leaders they can be. Unexpected(Everyone has been doubting them) competency should come naturally to them.

THIS WILL BE THE PROMISE

MADE, COME NEXT YEAR WE

WILL SEE WHETHER I HAVE KEPT

MY PROMISE.

PDS: This year, i have proved my worth, 8 months in "solitude" practicing, perfecting basic drills and mastering advanced drills. It all paid off when i did my first Triple Jumbo. =)

PDS takes lots of hard work and i want to leave a legacy for future cadets. As the
1st person to do Triple Jumbo. =)

PROMISE to myself is to do Helicopter before i step down.

THIS, WILL BE THE PROMISE

MADE, COME APRIL/MAY

WE WILL SEE WHETHER I HAVE

KEPT MY PROMISE.

This year will be a year of challenge, both physical and mental. I will succeed in acheiving my goals.

Things that will make me down, wont keep me down.

YOU CAN BANK ON THAT. =)

Changed my blog song, Twista feat. Faith Evans-Hope.

Ushering the new year in with hope. It may seem like senseless rapping to you, but it is actually a meaningful song once you know the lyrics.

I think i will cry when i watch this video after we step down. Seriously. Credits to Wei Xuan A.K.A. Robocop. Half-done but it is still good. =)

Another one done by Samuel, Half-done but good job too. =)

20 days have gone by...MAN IM LAZY!

Anyway these 20 days have been a frenzied, adrenalin rushing, blood pumping, heart stopping helluva exciting time ending on a disaster. I was sick in bed for the past 2 and a half days, too weak to do anything, not even replying SMSes or going online. Im almost recovering though, but not quite, wait a while and i will be back in full swing.

Im not going to bore you with a long post...so i will just bore you with a short post.

There was work, parades, chalet and training!

Parades being the first on my list, i shall start with NCC Change Of Command Parade 2008. All i can say is, Air GOH is definitely the best in terms of dressing and our drill standards. HOWEVER, we are not exactly that good either. (P.S. Sea GOH cant march in straight lines for nuts.)

After the parade. Brandon looks queer.

My peak cap is worn a little low. 周董!

Oh yeah, did i ever tell you, with the exclusion of Yong Liang, the 5 of us around the same part of the contingent cause we are about the same height. Haiz...too bad.

Next parade is 56th Cadet Officer Course Graduation Parade. I did the longest rehearsal but i wasnt chosen as the Colours RSM. The neat thing is, the emcee announced my name as the Colours RSM in the actual parade!

Pardon me for my fake smile, i was a little sad that i wasnt chosen.

Fake smile, but just a wee bit better.

THE RESERVES. Zacchaeus(Pronounced Zack-kee-ius) looks like a pork bellied underworld leader. No prizes for guessing who.

Jacky(The other reserve for Colours RSM) and I. Pacestick but no sword.

Jacky and i again. He looks mighty stiff.

Forgive me if my shoulders look droopy to you, but i was a little tired.

CONGRATULATIONS TO SIR SUI PENG AND WARREN FOR SUCCESSFULLY PASSING OUT THE COURSE.

Next up will be F3C/NCC/Alot of people chalet! Really sorry to the NCC Land Part B '08, but the chalet was fun. Hangovers, cards, gaying around, Jolly Shandy and lots of other stuffs.

17 people in 1 room according to Si Yang. F.Y.I. there are only 2 single beds.

QM(Jun Jie) is DAMN CUTE AND COMICAL with the bloody turban on his head, HAHA LOL! Anyone disagrees? I doubt so.

F3C! Shucks im on a bad photos streak, my hair is a little dishevelled.

Before i conclude this post, training on the 17th was a little morale boosting. Ai yah 8 more seconds to sub 10 minutes for 2.4. Sian, never mind, i know deep down that i confirm can make it come next year. Watch out world! On the other hand, Part B '09 better get themselves prepared by training themselves for NAPFA and NCC Training. Your true journey starts now.

Until next time, TOODLES! =)

IM BACK!!! WARNING: SUPER LONG

POST!

I DONT EXPECT YOU TO READ IT ALL.

I WAS

ING from 24TH-28TH NOVEMBER.

NOW I HAVE FINALLYED. TO SERVE TO STRIVE AND NOT TO

YIELD.

SATURDAY, 22ND NOVEMBER 2008

Worked until 12 P.M. Ate lunch at Hougang Central, $1.50 Chicken Rice! Made my way to Roxy Singapore Grand Mercure Hotel for the Triathlon Association of Singapore Technical Official Course(Level 1). Thought we were late, but in the end just on time cause the actual timing was different from the stipulated one. Found out that we were the only teenagers down there(Ok at least 15 years old or below, the rest are older). 4 hours, quite dry, but quite cool in terms of the things we get to do.

Hey we can issue yellow and red cards during a triathlon!

International Triathlon Union(ITU) Competition Rules.

YELLOW CARD!

RED CARD!

SUNDAY, 23RD NOVEMBER 2008

Pack camp stuff(HAHA im lazy and i procastinate, so sue me). Booked in at HQ at 8 P.M. after having my last dinner(Sound like im dying or something) at the seafood place near HQ. Met Ivan who was Rong Xuan's primary school friend(Suay HAHA no lah just joking). Supper and spent the night there.

MONDAY, 24TH NOVEMBER 2008

First day of OBS! Ate breakfast at HQ, took a free bus to Punggol Jetty. Sian i live in Seng Kang and yet HQ must make it so troublesome.

Talked to Mui Na and Fara, got to know them. I was in Group 16 or rather, RAFFLES WATCH. Met our instructor Clayton(We get to call him by his name), an ex-infantry officer who was a full lieutanant. Played 'Wild Wild West', a game of reflexes while waiting for the boat, starting everyone blur blur one, dont know how to play, in the end i won 2/3 rounds, HAHA.

RAFFLES WATCH! LOVE IT! FUN!

BACK ROW, DUDES(From left to right):
1. CLAYTON(Instructor, Clay for short)
2. AIDIL(Ideal)
3. IZZUL(Mother)
4. CEDRIC(Big guy)
5. SUKARNO(Scar)
6. JIA XING(Salary raise)
7. SAE TAN(Say/Saturn/Satan)
8. IAN(B-Boy, no it is not the name of the dance, it is something else)
9. BENJAMIN(Ben)
10. DYAN(My best buddy in this camp)
11. JIA JUN(JJ)
12. MUN KIT(Monkey)
13. ME(MOST ZAI, no lah just joking)

FRONT ROW, DUDETTES(From left to right):
14. WEN HUI(OMG girl, HUI WEN)
15. ROWENA(NOVENA MRT Station)
16. JING MING(BB)
17. NABILAH("Queen")

16 OF US PLUS CLAY.

Took a boat to OBS Camp 2(Later i got to know it was the lousier campsite). Settled all the administrative yadda yadda yadda, store, rations(Mainly biscuits and bread for our breakfast and lunch for the next 5 days).

Went on to our first activity, 'Blade Of Grass', where it you have to trust your partner to catch you from falling, after that was the real trust fall, where you lie back above ground and your watch mates will catch you with a mat.

Learnt belaying basics, easy. Only difference from CHS one is that both hands are always on the rope.

Dinner of rice, of which Clay taught us how to cook. 3,2,1 solid fuel. Use 3 first, when finishing, break another 2 into pieces, when finishing, break 1 into pieces and burn. Quite nice lah for our first time, somemore with all the delicious canned food.

Bathed, signed the Raffles Committment Book, pitched tent, slept with Aidil, Izzul and Scar(4 to a tent).

TUESDAY, 25TH NOVEMBER 2008

From now on, i will follow the abbrievation of UTBTEBMC(Unpitch tent, brush teeth, eat breakfast and morning circle A.K.A reflection) in the morning.

Kayaking lesson, all i know liao because they teaching 1 Star Kayaking Course techniques.

"Learnt" Rafted TX Rescue, after practicing that and slack capsize drill out at sea, eat lunch.

Helped to fill jerry cans for Raffles. Rock climbing, dinner of maggi mee(Either this or rice), trekked to campsite.

Did sentry duty in the night with Izzul and Nabilah. No halting, just checking for wild animals or wild strangers.

WEDNESDAY, 26TH NOVEMBER 2008

UTBTEBMC. Planned our route and off we go.

Basically, all you have to know that our load was heavy(For some of us including me who are not slackers), the forest was infested with mosquitoes that swarm your track pants in order to gain access to their spoils, strained relationships and aching and tired muscles. Oh yah, OBS certainly lives up to its promise that you would be cold and wet, hot and sweaty, thirsty and tired. The only hiong day for me.

Reached the campsite still raining, ate dinner(Maggi mee again, no choice, easier to cook). Changed into DRY shirts and shorts after which the 4 of us, Ian, Leon, Bing Hui and me were the 4 sea expedition leaders planned our expedition, briefed the rest, slept.

Rain half way through, and i slept in a puddle of water.

THURSDAY, 27TH NOVEMBER 2008

Woke up with an abrasions near the groin and behind the knee from the day before, shivering. Had to literally slap myself awake to change into warm clothes before getting into full gear.

Unpitch our tents, loaded the speed boat with our equipment, got our kayaks ready for the expedition.

Launch off, I was the starboard marker along with Dyan as my partner. Ian was the expedition leader, Leon the sweeper and Bing Hui the port marker.

Some people just have to show off and do not know when to wait for his the people that he/she is leading. Haiz...high post some more.

Dyan and me kept slacking and than chionging during the expedition, damn fast sia when we chiong, one moment we are at the back, 5 seconds later we are at the front again. HAHA dragonboat rowing method.

Reached Camp 1, the nicer campsite. Jetty jump, fun but salty.

Changed to dry attire and trekked back to Camp 2. Settled store stuff.

CELEBRATION DINNER! So fast OBS going to finish liao, mix feelings.

Bathed, went to sleep.

28TH NOVEMBER 2008

Last day! UTBTEBMC. Final reflection, final committment activity, settled last of the store stuff, got our stuff back, our certificate and photos.

Waited for the boat, took the last 2 pictures and reached Singapore. Bought my XL Black Polo T-Shirt because there was no L and M size and S was too small. Parted ways with Raffles. Realised after wards that XL is just nice. Blessing in disguise.

Ate lunch with Ivan, Mui Na, Rong Xuan and Samuel at Hougang Mall MC'Donalds, saw Izzul, Scar and Wen Hui.

Chionged home, changed into NO. 4, chionged to HQ. I was panting and was given only 5 minutes to remember 6 commands, OMGIDKWTH. In the end, i was dropped from Parade RSM to Colours RSM(As a candidate, actual day than know who is the actual one) because my hair was too long. DAMN IT! No time to cut what.

Reached home, bathed(Finally!), ate dinner, rushed out to eat steamboat with F3C. HAHA hungry mah. In the end i ate only a little and sneaked off without paying because my brothers got my back covered. THANKS GUYS(Sort of like celebration after coming back home).

SATURDAY, 29TH NOVEMBER 2008

Played soccer at Yong Hwee's house, was so much stronger and faster.

RAFFLES WATCH! LOVE THEM! WILL DEFINITELY MISS THEM!

I will always remember you guys, sounds as if we will not see each other again but we will have outings yeah! I will also remember Clayton, for his wise wisdom words and joking jokes stories.

Overall, it was THE BEST experience though there were a few slackers of whom i shall not name, whoever you are, please reflect on your attitude coming into OBS and how much that certificate means to you, in fact it means nothing because you did not put in your best and shows in the way you crumple, fold and roll your certificate.

Clayton's phrase: "I can bring you to the gate, but YOU decide how far you want to go."

OBS(5D5N). INSPIRATIONAL. MOTIVATIONAL. 5 FRUITFUL DAYS.

MEMORIES.

A LEADER'S JOURNEY FOR THE YOUTH.

BOUND FOR DISCOVERY, CHANGED FOR

LIFE.

GO CHEETAH, GET BANANA!

HEY MONKEY, GET FUNKY!

The star wars parody of 'Jungle Song'. Hilarious and cute. 00:52 is nice, 01:15 is very suggestive.

The original MV by Toy Box. The dance at 00:52 is SASSY. I like the guy's voice at 01:53, 02:21, 02:24 and his moves at 02:01 and 02:05. CLASSIC. Hook, line and sinker. Im hooked.

THURSDAY, 20TH NOVEMBER 2008
1st day of work at Punggol Primary School(Senior Daniel's ex-school) selling uniforms. Was an hour late because of SBS, i waited 45 minutes for bus 88 to come. I felt damn pissed, imagine how Rong Xuan must have felt, after all his cousin is the balls boss.

Slack and easy after grasping the basics, after lunch left with practically nothing to do.

While going to Yong Hwee's house on 372, i saw an old man who had difficulty carrying his stuff, offered to help(Im a 乖 boy boy), he told me to F off no thanks and showed me a page of his journal. HE WAS 114 years old(Born in 1894). OMGIDKWTH(Thanks Amanda for correcting me) old lah. He was an ex-journalist who worked during the war times. That is not the scary thing though, the scary thing was he shooked my hand before i alighted i went like OMGIDKWTH because it was a VERY firm grip he had on me. SICK SHIT.

Soccer, played until 8:15 P.M. because we were gambling on free kicks. 5 balls, Goalie- Player shoot out(If all 5 balls shoot out, last ball count as $0.50 as penalty): $0.10, Save: $0.20, Catch: $0.50. Player- Goal: $1.00

This was a spontaneous idea and we are not compulsive gamblers, it is a once in a blue moon kind of thing for fun and kicks, literally.

Won the most in the end through Garry Mag(Hope your not injured), HAHA.

I felt like the scene at 01:04 during the game of soccer, falling NUTS. INFER(Yong Hwee should know what happened).

FRIDAY, 21ST NOVEMBER 2008
Same thing, this time i wasnt late. My(And also THE) first customer made the biggest purchase of the day. $134 worth of schoolwear.

Before lunch was quite busy, after lunch as usual, was spend practically doing nothing. Should have brought an umbrella(CHS should know why, go find out why if you do not know).

Went to Beach Road with Rong Xuan after that to buy goodies OBS stuffs.

See Wei Kit, i told you so, AI graduation was today! 不听晖扬言,吃亏在眼前. The course AI 有比我仔 meh? HAHA.

一鸣惊人. 22/24.

I was the reserve-reserve. Fate would have it that i will become part of CHS NCC Air Shooting Team. Donson, the original reserve backed out on compassionate grounds, as for Kenneth...

NCC Annual Shooting Competition 2008. Detail 4. Lane 4. I have always thought Nee Soon Camp had some sort of curse for shooting ever since Part A, during IMT, all i see is a blur patch of black. Live range now, things are different. More recoil, more gun powder, more smoke and more heat(From the barrel).

Going in was a drag, briefing was a little redundant but we listened nonetheless. Soon(By soon i mean alot later), it was our turn. I wasnt nervous at all, being the reserve-reserve, i thought of it as another live range with marksman at 10 marks, but you have 24 rounds to get the 10 marks with.

I guess it worked(Read the first line above). ZAI. 1 shot 2 targets go down, COOL. AND NOW NOVELL KNOWS ABOUT HER. Ai yo Wei En ah! HAHA.

Went back school, went home, chionged lunch, went to Yong Hwee's house, rained so cannot play soccer =(. So we went LAN at Hougang Green =), today for me quite good already =). Went home by taking 161.

How i have proven myself today, SIR Goh even doubt my capabilities, i guess class will tell everytime =). Today, the reserve-reserve proves himself to be a hidden power/talent of the team.
